Junior Scholarship Program

A Long History of Support

Our Junior Scholarship Program started in 2009, when we began paying school fees for children whose families weren’t financially capable of doing so. Less than 50% of the population above the age of 15 are literate. Less than 25% of children complete primary (elementary) school, and the numbers plummet from there. More than 60% of Sierra Leoneans live on less than $1.25 a day.

Help Beyond our School's Capacity

Since our school has a limited capacity, we offer a scholarship program for children with the means to attend school. Public school is not free, neither are the books, supplies, and uniforms that a child needs to attend. The seemingly low barrier of around $110/year (tuition, books, supplies) is unsurmountable for many living day-to-day. Once a child is accepted into our Junior Scholarship program, he/she stays with us, all requirements paid for by us, until they complete senior secondary school (high school).

Opportunity

Parents want their children to go to school, and their children have the same dreams and aspirations as any other. They want to be doctors and lawyers, businessmen and politicians. They want their parents to be comfortable, fed, and healthy. They want to make a difference. They want to change the world. But this is a tall order given their situation. Many parents cannot afford to send their children to school, a sad fact of the world considering to small price of admission relative to first world economies.
